IPS Asia-Pacific develops and carries out a range of work in media development, specialised reporting and training with a view to capacity-building and creating a venue for Asian voices.  

Partnership by funders and partners in such programmes constitute support for independent, professional reporting by developing-country journalists, and we welcome inquiries and expressions of interest in exploring potential cooperation and partnerships.

-Imaging Our Mekong, a media fellowship programme on cross-border issues for journalists from the Mekong Region, since 2001 (http://www.newsmekong.org) and implemented together with the Probe Media Foundation Inc (http://www.probefound.com).                                

                                                                                                 

 -a series of features on water governance in the Mekong region -a feature service on water and development, called Asia Water Wire (http://www.asiawaterwire.net).

 -a series on features giving to a voice to Asian views with regards to issues related to North America and Europe (Bridges from Asia website at http://www.ipsnewsasia.net/bridgesfromasia)

 -production of independent conference newspapers, including at the 8th International Congress on AIDS in Asia and the Pacific (ICAAP) in Colombo, Sri Lanka in August 2007 (http://ipsterraviva.net/tv/colombo2007/default.aspx) ; ILO Theme Seminars on the Informal Economy in Bangkok, Thailand in May 2006 (http://www.ipsterraviva.net/TV/Bangkok/default.asp),  at the XV International AIDS Conference in 2004 (Bangkok), and the Second Asia-Pacific Conference on Reproductive and Sexual Health (Bangkok) in 2003.

 -coordination of IPS' TerraViva conference newspaper at the World Social Forum in Karachi, Pakistan in March 2006 and Mumbai, India in January 2004, and production of a supplement (‘Voices’) for the World Social Forum in Brazil, January 2005

 -special series on migration and reproductive health, reporting on conflict, HIV/AIDS in Asia and Africa 



 -training of young journalists by pairing them with senior writers
